Links Don't Work or Browser Hangs And Won't Go Anywhere

Applies to: Communicator 4.0x and Navigator Standalone 4.0x
Operating Systems: Windows 95/98 and Windows NT.

Problem: "Clicking On A Link Doesn't Do Anything Or When Entering A URL In The Location Window The Browser Hangs And Won't Go Anywhere

Solutions:

Solution Number One:

If you have the GetRight download utility installed, or did previously, see the following page for the fix:

The problem stems from GetRight's integration with Netscape, however not all GetRight users are affected.

Solution Number Two:

Close Communicator and do CTRL+ALT+DEL to bring up the Task Manager. Look in the list for "netscape.exe" and if found then "End Task" on it.

Restart Communicator and try again.

Solution Number Three:

Locate the file HOSTS, the one without an extension (not HOSTS.SAM) in the /windows/ directory and rename it HOSTS.BAK .. Close Communicator and try again.
