Just configured a new domain:

Netscape Champions

No idea what to do with it yet but NOT going to be a support forum site so as to not take away from the UFAQ.

Any ideas ??

The idea seems good, to have a discussion site, as I understand it to be. There is a lot of nostalgia about good old Netscape, and not much understanding about what happened in the past ten years or so.
May be there is nothing which can be done, but any realistic idea which can be kicked around could be useful. My emphasis is on being realistic, under the present circumstances. But, any discussion will be good.
Personally, I care little for another set of username/password. For security reasons, I don't like to save my info on the hard drive, and page 2 of my username/passwords is officially full. But, logins are necessary.

Good idea for a general discussion forum so as to keep the UFAQ for support only and not for a chat site, etc.

Any suggestions for forums will be entertained.

The index page (front page) is reserved for announcements of interest, etc.

Once going, you can provide links in the various posts to direct users to OT discussion, etc.

Regarding your comment to Jay about logins, etc. I can tell you that allowing anonymous to post is a NIGHTMARE to say the least.

I am in full agreement. It is bad enough with registered users.
Yesterday was a particularly bad day, when I found out about, at least, three new sites which required logins, and so registration. But, there is so much spam going around!

This is a follow-up on my previous post. I registered, and, prepared a long add-on, of sorts to the only topic from Jay, which was locked.
Good topic, and, locking it is justified, but why was my post rejected as an invalid session. Any way, I don't really care, but, should anyone want to know, this is what I tried to post.

I, just, wanted to provide some additional information to the locked topic post, by Jay.
Should anyone misunderstand what is going on, Netscape4.x, and lower have not been supported for years. The same applies to the Netscape6/7.x Suites, and, to some extent the Netscape Browser 8. By not supported, I mean that development of these program ceased long ago. In some cases, like for Netscape4.x and lower, the present standards make them obsolete.
Some individuals use the Mail portion of the Suites (7.x and lower). However, once Mail is opened, the entire program is opened.
It is much better to "modernize", by, either, using an up-to-date program, like Seamonkey (which is not accepted at some sites, including AOL Music, or use the standalone programs, such as Navigator9.0.0.6 (still up-to-date), or Firefox or Flock.
The most important point to make is that all programs will work, and support, meant as advice, etc. will continue here, or at the ufaq.org fora.
I feel that if someone is unsure, try here, first. We may disagree on the methods to be use, but consensus will be reached. There has been plenty of confusion, so far.

I added a few more forums to the list and I'll add more if some suggestions come in.

Westside: The site, like this one is cookie driven. Make sure cookies are fully enabled for that site. Something cookie related triggered the invalid_session message.

I accept all cookies, indefinitely. I will check again, but would not know what could block them.

Clear cache and clear any cookies for the site if they exist yet. The error INVALID_SESSION is cookie related 100%.

Invalid Session. Please resubmit the form.

The above is what shows up on top of the page, after I tried to post. It is not an error of the type Invalid_Session. I get no hint on how to resubmit. In fact, unless I saved the content of the post, whatever I tried to post is wiped clean. May be someone will be able to explain.
By the way. The first time I was using Navigator9.0.0.6. A few moments ago, I was using Flock1.1. I was trying to help, but I have a lot more things to do than to try to figure out this new site.
But, will periodically, check it out, and, see if anyone else has succeeded in posting. Nothing is posted, except for the locked topic by Jay.

I helped author the original cookie specification at Netscape and yes - Invalid Session is most definitely cookie related on PHPNuke sites of which both the UFAQ and the NS Champs site are.

We removed the cookie domain on the server and re-enabled it. You should have no problems. I see that there is already one successful post by "Jimmy" as well as a reply from "yours truly".

UD,
thanks. I placed a test post, and it worked. Something must have inhibited posting before.
