Your only way to maybe do this is to create a new AOL/AIM account and use your old @netscape.net login information - user/pass

You cannot log in to an AOL account that you already have and using the old @netscape.net password, that will not work. You MUST sign up for a NEW AOL/AIM account and use your old @netscape username and password, THEN try to login. |

unfortunately... i used only 4 letters as my passwd for the netscape.net account.
i guess it is impossible to change my aol passwd to the 4 letters.
and i could not sign up new aol accout with only 4 letters for passwd.
i really hope to get the account back. please help me.
thank you.

i made the aol account before netscape and aol merged.
if i delete the aol account and sign up again, can i use the netscape.net account again?
and can i sign up with the same login name right after i delete the aol account?
thank you very much. |

When you signed up for the new AOL account before the @netscape.net account merged, did you use the same password? If not then that will not work.
If the passwords are not the same then you will have to remove the @AOL.COM account and sign up for a new one, this time using the @netscape.net username and passord for the @netscape.net account. |

If you cannot use a 4-letter password when opening a new AOL account then that's that, the account is not able to be retrieved. Did you even try? |

Phone:
800-827-6364
How to reach a live person:
Well, this is really a trick. Press "0" 6 times until ending up at a recording saying that they needed to pull up my account information. Then enter "#" 3 times until the recording gives up and said they would transfer me to a live person.
Hours of Operation:
Monday - Friday: 8am - 1am EST
Saturday: 8am - 10pm EST
Closed all major holidays |

I lost my Netscape.net account "showflash AT netscape.net"
While on my home system the account was hacked. I went through the password recovery interface and DURING the password recovery it asked me for my library card number for account recovery, then establish a new password... and before I could enter the password the account was hacked, recovery info changed and I have been unable to get back in since.
For the last month I have struggled to get back at least a dozen accounts that were hacked and so far I have recovered ALL ACCOUNTS except my Netscape.net account no matter what instructions I follow, who I call, or what feedback interface I use at AOL or here in the forum.
The people at all of the voice/phone numbers, primarily Comcast & the Netscape.com corp help lines, say that they cannot see the account and since it was a free account they do not have access to it to reset it. They cannot even find data related to it.
If I try to create an AOL account so as to recover the Netscape.net account as I have seen mentioned here in the Forums, the AOL Mail system says an account already exists and I am unable to create a similarly named account so the system sees the account.
I never get any replies back from ANY AOL feedback interfaces, and I have tried on and off for weeks to recover the account.
This forum would not allow me to use my Yahoo! Mail email address, I had to get another AOL email address in order to even post here.
I need access to the account and get access to the documentation in that account because ALL of my business dealings going all the way back to before 2000 for three start-ups, three domain registrations, an IETF registration, and all of my magazine subscriptions for all of my technical magazines (NetworkWorld, Cisco, InformationWeek, etc.), business correspondence are in that account.
If the account is empty, or has been closed I need the information that was in that account. The account needs to be reestablished so that I can get at the data.
Is there anyone who can help me?
Do you need my home phone number?
Thank you,
Thomas |

Sign up for a new AOL/AIM account but use your old @netscape.net username and password. Your Netscape mail should all be there.

Nope as I said in the prior post that I had already tried that. To satisfy your directive and my own curiosity to see what the error message would be I tried it again and it failed so must have moved the account over to aol somehow when directed.
The error message
/QUOTE/
Sorry!
That email address is taken. Choose one of the following AOL addresses:
/END QUOTE/
Note that about one week before the problems I changed the password, and changed the password recovery information, then logged out. Then about a few days later tried to log back in... and as I said in the prior post, for whatever reason my password would NOT work. So I went through the password recovery service, and gave my library card number, and another piece of key information. It then had me input a new password, and I did...then before I could get to the interface to input the new password, the new password had been changed and the password recovery information had been changed... and I have been unable to get back in.
The hackers must have been on my system or hijacked the session and they had to see the new password, trapped it, and modified it using a script.
I need someone at AOL / Netscape.net services to help me recover that account. I need help with this ASAP because it is going on three to four weeks.
If the account has been wiped out by the hackers than all AOL / Netscape has to do is replace everything that was in the account back to March or April, 2010.
If you need me to verify what was in the account back around March / April 2010, to verify who I am, I think I can do a pretty good job.
Thanks,
Thomas |

Netscape.net web mail is no longer supported. Only those accounts that were successfully migrated years ago are supported but only by AOL/AIM. There is nothing that "we" can do here. |

First of all how do you know and certain that your mail account was hacked. There have been no reports that I am aware of that @netscape.net accounts were "hacked".
The only way that I know of to get into your account is by using your original password, otherwise you're trying to get access to the account using another password that is being seen as invalid. In other words, your attempt to change or restablish another password didn't work for the original account.
What happens if you try to access your AIM account using your old @netscape.net login information at @AIM.COM or @AIM.NET .. etc.
There is nothing that we can do here as we are not associated with AOL/AIM. We are an independant support venue.

I forwarded your post to one of my contacts at AOL, we'll see if anything can turn up. There is nothing more we can do. |
