The Netscape Unofficial FAQ

Applies to: Navigator 3.0 and earlier
Operating Systems: Windows 3.x and Windows 95

Problem: "I cannot open local files on my hard drive in Netscape after uninstalling Freeloader."

Solution:

FreeLoader version 2.5.013 contains a bug which may cause your Netscape Navigator to temporarily not run. The problem only exists if you are uninstalling FreeLoader without upgrading to a newer version. If you install the current version of FreeLoader, the bug will be automatically fixed.

This bug only occurs if you used Netscape as your preferred Web browser with FreeLoader, it does not affect Internet Explorer users.

Bug Description: FreeLoader uninstall does not remove what Netscape calls a "protocol handler". This handler let's our program know what Netscape is doing, but may cause conflicts if you run Netscape without FreeLoader installed. To return your system to normal operating condition please follow the following instructions. We apologize for this inconvenience -- if you would like additional help, please feel free to contact our support team at bugs@freeloader.com
